Radio Rumination

Over the years, I have learned that a great AM/FM radio is hard to find. Sure, car sound systems usually have a decent receiver. However, most home audio systems have ditched the tuner entirely. The majority of today's boomboxes have terribly performing radio sections.

Of late, my search for a good AM/FM radio has brought me to several portables that also receive shortwave bands. Most have good AM & FM reception along with other perks to improve their performance. Some of the best are coming from: Sangean, Tecsun & Eton/Grundig.

The down side to these sets, is that they tend to offer many functions, which can make then more difficult to operate. The other disadvantage, is that some of the cost of the radio is for the shortwave reception that may never be used.

There are always exceptions out there, so keep your eyes peeled.
