Someone barging in on your radio?

Every summer the upper atmosphere makes it possible for distant FM stations to barge in on your favorite stations. These stations that only come in over your usual faves, are most likely from a great distance away. Some, as much as 1,200 miles. This happens near the summer solstice. Sometimes these signals are so strong, they can overpower local stations. However, these signals will fade very quickly, and even may go in and out. You may even hear local news or weather, or even a local commercial. If your radio displays RDS information, you may even be able to catch the station's call letters. This can be fun to see how far you can hear.
